The Infused Element

We’re not tossing dried herb into our casserole and hoping for the best. We're infusing—properly. That means decarboxylating your cannabis first (activating the THC or CBD) before steeping it into butter or oil.

What You’ll Need:

  • ECRU Decarboxylator & Infuser – one-button magic to decarb and infuse

  • 7–14 grams of cannabis flower (depending on desired potency)

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

Step 1: Decarb Your Herb

Using the ECRU Decarboxylator, follow the precise time and temp:

  • THC Decarb: 30 mins

  • CBD Decarb: 1 hour

Drop in up to 2 oz of flower into the small canister. Seal with the silicone lid to control odor and ensure even heating.

Why Decarb?

Raw weed won’t get you high. You need to convert THCA → THC (or CBDA → CBD) with heat. Skip this step and you’ll be wasting your flower—literally.

Step 2: Infuse Your Butter

Add the following to the ECRU canister after decarb:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter

  • Optional: a little water to smooth the emulsion

Set to Infuse (4 hours). The FDA non-stick coating ensures clean extraction, and smell stays contained thanks to the smart design.

Final Step:

Strain and refrigerate your cannabutter. Store in an airtight container and label it clearly!

Cannabis Ham & Cheese Croissant Casserole (Infused Version)

Ingredients:

  • 14 oz Gruyère cheese, divided

  • 13 mini croissants, day-old preferred, split

  • 8 oz deli-sliced ham

  • 6 large eggs

  • 2 cups half-and-half

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1½ tsp kosher salt

  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme, chopped

  • 2 tbsp fresh chives, sliced

  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • 2–4 tbsp cannabutter (start low!)

  • Regular unsalted butter (for balancing fat)

Directions

  1. Prep the Cheese & Dish

    • Shred 10 oz of the Gruyère. Cube the remaining 4 oz.

    • Butter a 3-quart casserole dish with regular butter.

  2. Make Mini Sandwiches

    • Split croissants and layer with torn ham + 1–2 tbsp shredded cheese.

    • Close to form sandwiches, cut in half, and stand upright in the dish.

  3. Whisk the CustardIn a bowl, mix:

    • Eggs + half-and-half

    • Dijon, salt, thyme

    • Melted cannabutter + regular butter (based on dosage—see below)

Pour over croissants. Cover with foil.Let sit 1 hour at room temp, or overnight in the fridge.

  4. Bake

    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

    • Dot with cubed cheese and remaining shredded cheese.

    • Bake covered for 40 mins.

    • Uncover and bake 10–15 mins more until golden and bubbly.

  5. Cool and ServeLet it rest 10 mins. Garnish with chives and pepper.

Dosage Notes (Read Me!)

Every edible is different. Here’s a quick estimate using a mid-range 15% THC flower:

  • 1 gram @ 15% THC ≈ 150mg THC total

  • Infused into 1 cup butter (2 sticks) = 150mg per cup

  • If you use 2 tbsp cannabutter in your casserole, you’ll get ~37.5mg THC total, spread across the whole dish.

Suggested Dosage:

  • Microdose: 1–2 tbsp infused + balance with regular butter

  • Standard: 3–4 tbsp infused for moderate effect

  • Heavy hitter: 5–6 tbsp infused (but be mindful!)

Always label clearly, and start small—especially for guests. You can always go back for seconds, but you can’t un-eat an edible.

Pro Tips from a Fellow Infusion Nerd:

“Cooking with cannabis is about balance—fat, flavor, and function.”— Me, probably after a second slice of this casserole 😅
  • 🧠 Avoid Alcohol: Don’t try Everclear or rum for infusion here—too volatile for hot casseroles.

  • 🧈 Butter or Oil? I recommend butter for richness, but olive oil works if you're dairy-free.

  • 🌡️ No Guesswork: ECRU makes precision easy. No burnt batches. No smelly ovens. Just plug, push, and play.

  • 📦 Leftovers? Freeze portions individually and reheat for a quick highly satisfying meal.

Pairing Suggestions

  • Serve with: Arugula salad, pickled onions, or a citrusy mimosa

  • Drink: Infused golden milk or a non-infused café au lait for balance

  • Mood: Brunch, stoned and still wearing your robe

Final Thoughts

Yes, you can’t decarb a croissant—but you can decarb cannabis and infuse its magic into this buttery masterpiece. With ECRU Decarboxylator, the tricky science becomes simple. You bring the ingredients, and ECRU brings the chemistry.

So whether it’s Sunday brunch, holiday morning, or a "just because I can" Tuesday night—this dish delivers.

Happy infusing 💚— A fellow weed-and-butter enthusiast
